Della's interest in computer science began when she joined a club at school associated with the Black Data Processing Association (BDPA), and after placing 2nd in the BDPA National High School Competition with the St. Louis Chapter, she decided that computer science was the field for her. In addition to her interest in CS, Della is also passionate about low-income and first-generation students' struggles in higher education. As a low income student herself, Della started the College Lowdown which is a podcast that tackles topics like studying for the SAT/ACT, admitting to your college peers that you are low income, and other issues that students might not be aware that they will have to face due to their unique backgrounds. The show has almost 20,000 listens. In her free time, Della enjoys dancing of many forms, including hip-hop, jazz, and modern.
