Sterling Smith’s love for programming has driven him to stay curious and never settle. After graduating from the University of Texas, Tyler he went on to hone his management skills at Lockheed Martin and Booz Allen before deciding to pursue his own entrepreneurial passions. Sterling has been recognized by the city of Austin’s Black Chamber of Commerce as Austinpreneur of Year for his entrepreneurial successes founding two companies and his contributions to diversity initiatives in the city. Nationally, his diversity strengths have been recognized as he and his co-founder were recently invited to participate in Google for Entrepreneurs’ Black Founders Exchange Program in Durham, NC.
Sterling founded SandBox Commerce, a SaaS platform that enables retailers who are already selling their products online to easily build a feature rich mobile store that their shoppers can download in both iTunes and Google Play app stores. SandBox Commerce facilitates access to this market for the 98% of retailers who want and need an app to increase sales in today's mobile age but do not have the expertise or time. SandBox Commerce allows any mid-
market retailer to build their app in less than a week.
The big vision for SandBox Commerce is to mediate at least some aspect of every transaction that a retail brand has with a consumer on a mobile device.
We believe that SandBox Commerce can democratize access to a traditionally risky and expensive market by building affordable technologies that allow retailers to interact with their consumers in simple and effortless ways.
