Susan Colby is the CEO of a new organization supporting innovations in technology so that millions of illiterate children around the world can attain basic literacy and numeracy. She recently stepped down as the leader of McKinsey & Company’s North American Education practice. As a partner at McKinsey, Susan worked with social, private and public sector clients. Prior to McKinsey, Susan was the CEO at Stupski Foundation, a philanthropy focused on education for disadvantaged youth. She was also a member of the founding team of the Bridgespan Group, launching and leading the San Francisco office and building the education and philanthropy practices.
Previously, Susan served as Co-President of the Sustainable Development Sector at Monsanto where she developed and led economically, environmentally and socially viable businesses in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Earlier in her career, in her first stint at McKinsey & Company, Susan worked in a variety of industries and co-founded the North American Environment Practice, serving clients in the areas of environmental management and strategy. Susan began her career at Bain & Company after receiving her B.A. from American University cum laude. She then went on to earn her M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
