Programs Created and Run
The tech sector is one of the fastest growing, most unregulated, and most powerful sectors in the world. And yet, Black and Latinx people are grossly underrepresented compared to the population at large. As we face a new era in tech, we need Black and Latinx people to drive innovation. The tech sector must change, and Code2040 existed to change it.
Since our founding, we have served over 20,000 technologists, 95% of whom are Black and Latinx.
With our Fellows Program specifically, 15,670 technologists have applied over the past 9 years; Students from over 165 universities have participated; Over 1,000 Fellows have secured internships as a result of the Fellows Program.
Over the years, we created and ran 10 different programs supporting Black and Latinx students, entrepreneurs, and professionals at all stages of their careers. These included:
Fellows Program
Technical Applicant Prep (TAP)
Tech Trek
Managers Trainings
Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR)
Racial Equity Trainings
Salons
So Shifts the Sector
Early Career Accelerator Program (ECAP)
Gatherings
Through these programs, we partnered with 115 companies and organized 211 Code2040 gatherings in 13 locations, including California, New York, Massachusetts, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, Puerto Rico, and more.
While other organizations assist young people to enter into the tech sector, no other organization offered no cost (to participants) technical and racial equity advocacy mentorship and resources to Black and Latinx college students.
Here are a few glimpses into the impact the Code2040 community has made and experienced over the years:
